San Rafael Country is home to hundreds of rock art petroglyphs and pictographs left by ancient indians, and early pioneers. Some of the rock art panels you will find have appeared in magazines like National Geographic. Two of our famous rock art panels are the Buckhorn Panel, and the Rochester Panel. Both panels are featured in the San Rafael Swell Roads Less Traveled Self Guide and Map. Barrier Canyon Style rock art, Fremont rock art, and Ute rockart make up the majority of rock art in the San Rafael Swell.
